This Mortal Coil were a British music collective led by Ivo Watts-Russell, founder of the British record label 4AD. Although Watts-Russell and John Fryer were the only two official members, the band's recorded output featured a large rotating cast of supporting artists, many of whom were otherwise associated with 4AD, including members of Cocteau Twins, Pixies and Dead Can Dance.

Some of DCD's best songs are here. Brendan fully hits his stride with the songs "I Can See Now," "American Dreaming," and "Don't Fade Away." They are rooted in folk, but are also very musically complex and and show off a lyrical, poetic complexity he really didn't match after these songs IMO.
